The Anisakhan Airport, inaugurated the other day, becomes a facility to help develop the aviation transport of the State as well as the regional development and the enhancement of tourism service as a milestone in the PyinOoLwin region.
Currently, a total of three international airports and 28 domestic airports are being operated in order to give regular flight services to travellers. The State has been implementing an upgrading project for Anisakhan Airport since 2023 to ensure that it fully meets the standards and requirements of an airport. The already-inaugurated Anisakhan Airport will proudly stand as an airport that further strengthens the domestic airport network.
The new Government is making vigorous efforts to provide and develop the necessary infrastructure to transform the country into a modern and comprehensively developed nation. In carrying out such infrastructural development, the air transport sector, which plays a crucial role in the country’s economic development, has been designated as a priority sector. Therefore, projects for the expansion and construction of new infrastructure, including airports, are being implemented at an accelerated pace.
Anisakhan Airport will not only serve the tourism sector of the PyinOoLwin region, but will also become a strategic gateway for aviation connectivity in the development of “Yadanabon Cyber City” into a world-class Silicon Valley, which is envisioned as a hub for advancing the country’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Moreover, the facility will help distribute high-quality agricultural products of PyinOoLwin to domestic markets as well as foreign countries through the Air Cargo & Cold Chain Logistics system.
A new two-storey steel-structure terminal building, measuring 120 feet in length and 80 feet in width, has been constructed at Anisakhan Airport, with a capacity to handle 100,000 arriving and departing passengers annually. A parking apron has also been expanded to 600 feet in length and 550 feet in width to allow three aircraft, including aircraft such as Boeing 737-800, to be parked and operated simultaneously. In addition, a new air traffic control tower, measuring 30 feet in length, 20 feet in width, and 56 feet in height, has been constructed. Furthermore, navigation equipment, runway lighting systems, and aircraft arrival guidance systems have also been installed.
As such, Anisakhan Airport will firmly establish itself as an airport that supports networked aviation routes connecting with airports across Myanmar, including those in Shan State, and contributes to the socioeconomic development of the people through the flow of trade and technology.
