One week after twenty-year-old Brianna Myvett was gunned down, police still cannot say why anyone would want the promising university student and volleyball player dead. Investigators have gathered more information about the make and model of the vehicle believed to have been used in the attack, but they have not yet tracked it down. Two persons of interest were briefly detained and later released after police found no concrete evidence linking them to the killing. ASP Stacy Smith says the investigation remains active as detectives search for the vehicle, a suspect and, most importantly, a motive.

“ As it relates to the investigation pertaining to Ms. Myvett, I can advise that the investigators were able to retrieve a number of video footage. So far that has only assisted in identifying the make and model of the vehicle because the vehicle of interest in this instance did not bear a license plate. However, the investigators are continuing to trace the vehicle to see if they can see who boarded it to further advance the investigation. So far, no motive has been established. Neither Ms. Myvett or the other male person that she was with were known to the police. However the investigation continues. Two persons of interest were detained based on statements that were given in terms of a suspected motive. However, it has not yielded anything concrete, but the investigation continues, and certainly it is one that the police department is not sparing any resource.”

“As I stated, no motive has been established. We do not know whether it was Ms. Myvett or the male person or both were the intended targets in that situation.”
