Tonight, as reported by Zagorja.com readers, there was a new fire in Grabrovac, a settlement within the City of Zabok.

According to the first information, the situation looks dire.

    – Dima has reached the center – says one reader of the portal Zagorje.com.

21:55 The president of DVD Svetog Križ Začretja, Miljenko Šoštarić, commented on the fire in Pustodol Začretski for Zagorje.com:

    – By chance, I was the first to find myself at the very beginning of the fire and we immediately informed the fire brigade, the public fire brigade and all the volunteer fire brigades we could. We also activated all the members of the Holy Cross Healing DVD. We were already on the field three to four minutes after the fire broke out.

We immediately started extinguishing it, but very quickly it was clear that this would be one of the biggest fires to hit Hrvatsko Zagorje in the last few years. Two years ago, an exercise organized by our DVD in cooperation with the company Prostorija was held here. All fire and emergency services of the Krapina-Zagorje County participated. This exercise was extremely important and well organized, and the Prostorija company proved to be an example of good practice in the field of fire protection.

However, what happened today is something that is difficult to describe. When we started extinguishing the fire, the fire spread extremely quickly. We put out the fire, but the fire continued to spread. Soon we found ourselves in very dangerous and almost hellish conditions, and we had to protect the lives of the firefighters above all. There was also an explosion right in front of us. My colleague and I were on the jet at the time of the explosion. We assume that there was an explosion of a gas cylinder on the forklift that was in the fire, but that has yet to be determined.

The intervention is extremely difficult and continues. I believe it will last deep into the night, maybe even into the morning. The damage is huge for the whole area. I would like to thank all the firefighters from DVD Oroslavje, Bedekovčin and other companies from all over Zagorje who came to help. We are still trying to get the fire under control. The focus is on preventing the spread to other parts of the company, which we partially succeeded in, but the situation is still not under complete control.

Unfortunately, we are witnessing a great tragedy. It is especially difficult for me because I work with the company Prostoria. Considering the extent of the damage, this is a huge blow, not only materially but also for the entire region – said Šoštarić, writes Zagorje.com.

21:05 About twenty minutes ago, a fire broke out again in Pustodol Začretski, on the premises of the company Prostoria, near Sveti Križ Začretje, writes Zagorje.com.

Although the firefighters earlier, about an hour ago, considered that the fire was brought under control, the element of fire apparently broke through the roof and spread again to the entire factory building.

All competent services are still on the ground, and firefighters continue to fight the fire.

    – There was a confusion between the heat of the water and the fire itself and now it has flared up, there are probably oxygen bottles inside, so detonations occur and now it is spreading even more because of this – one of the firefighters told Zagorje.com.

    EARLIER

A fire broke out in Sveti Križ Začretje, more precisely in Pustodol Začretje, which spread a lot, writes Zagorje.com. As confirmed by PU Krapina-Zagorje, the report arrived at 4:22 p.m. The Zagorja.com reporter confirmed that the fire was large-scale.

ZJVP Zabok firefighters are on the ground with several vehicles and are still fighting the fire, and the strong wind is making it difficult for them to put it out. More and more firefighters are arriving by the minute.

It is about the company Prostoria, which deals with the design and manufacture of furniture.

At the moment, no further details are known, i.e. whether there are any injured persons, but an ambulance arrived at the scene of the fire shortly before, writes Zagorje.com. Unofficially, the fire started from a small canopy, and they say there is a lot of sponge waste there.

Head of St. Križa Začretja Marko Kos for Zagorje International said for Danas.hr. that the situation is very bad.

“It’s not good. The main building is practically finished, the firefighters are trying, but the situation is very bad,” Kos said, adding that the gas system was closed as a precaution, given that the factory has a gas dryer.

ZJVP Zabok commander Dražen Sinković told Zagorje.com that the fire was extinguished with water and foam and that there were about 70 firefighters at the scene. He added that there were no injuries, and there was no danger of spreading to other companies or the populated area.

“We are witnessing the fire of the company Prostoria where the halls involved in the production of furniture and mattresses and everything else that is in production were affected. Unfortunately, the fire is of a large scale.

The fire was reported at 4:22 p.m. All the forces that were able to activate from the first moment were sent automatically, that is, the Zagorska public, the Sveti Križ Začretje voluntary fire company, and the Zabok volunteer fire company, the Krapina JVP were already put on standby, and with the arrival of the first team, the forces were raised, that is, all the forces that are currently available and which are sufficient to try to bring this fire under control.

The firefighters are currently fighting the fire so that it does not spread to the back hall, but the great heat means, the great fuel is energy, so we hope that we will be able to stop the fire from spreading to what is left of this company Prostoria” – said Sinković.

The president of VZ KZŽ Stjepan Skuliber said that the situation is slowly being controlled.

“A large part was engulfed in fire. But the firefighters managed to stop it from spreading to the further part of the building with really superhuman efforts, and we think that we have stopped the fire in those dimensions at the moment. It is still a long way from extinguishing the fire itself, the localization itself, but we certainly have it under control now and I believe that there will be no possibility of the fire spreading further.

We have some 75 operational firefighters, both public fire brigades, five fire companies, 15, 16 fire engines, tankers. So, we raised the largest forces we currently have, I am in communication with the chief fire chief. So, we responded with full force to this fire and I think we responded successfully, that we managed to stop it in the dimensions where we could. The damage is big, huge, but we responded as best we could, and I think that’s very, very good” – said Skuliber, writes Zagorje.com
