PARAMARIBO — In recent days, the Economic Control Service (ECD) department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation (EZOTI) has carried out inspections and re-inspections in the Paramaribo and North area. ECD took action in response to complaints from citizens. The checks were carried out by, among others, Openbaar Groen, BOG, KPS, ECD, Building Police and the Administrative Service on Thursday, Friday and Monday.
On Thursday, during the complaint handling process, Shops A and B, Autoparts and Moped Parts were checked. In both cases, the complaint turned out to be unfounded after inspection. At Shop A, the products in question were labeled with prices and had a shelf life of at least one year. A new cash register system with correct receipts appeared to be in use at Shop B.
“Furthermore, complaints have been received from an apartment complex about pollution, clogged sewers and cesspools, carelessly stored gas cylinders and unsafe electricity cabling.”
Various violations were also identified during re-inspections of roadsides. Entrepreneurs and residents have been held accountable for, among other things, litter, the placement of waste bins, abandoned cars and car wrecks on roadsides and inadequate maintenance of the immediate environment.
Complaints have also been received from an apartment complex about pollution, clogged sewers and cesspools, carelessly stored gas cylinders and unsafe electricity cabling. Due to the possible safety risks, a follow-up check with the fire brigade is planned. Entrepreneurs in the Noord area have also been urged to remove abandoned car wrecks within the specified period.
The services involved will continue the checks. Re-checks have been announced at various locations to check whether the instructions and reminders given have been followed.
