The coach of the Dubai Basketball team, Slovenian coach Alexander Sekulić, confirmed that the great public support and the exceptional energy provided by the large attendance in the Coca-Cola Arena were among the most important factors in the victory over Partizan Belgrade of Serbia with a score of (86-81) and the lead (2-0) in the Adriatic League final series, making the team one step away from achieving a historic title in its first participation in the tournament.
The day before yesterday, Dubai Basketball succeeded in renewing its victory over its guest Partizan Belgrade in the final series consisting of five matches, after it had opened the series with a first victory with a score of (99-93) on the fourth of this June at home and in front of its fans.
The team now needs only one win to clinch the title, during the next two matches scheduled in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, on June 10 and 12, while the fifth and decisive match will be held in Dubai on June 16, if necessary.
Sekulić said in press statements after the match: “The unlimited energy and great public support were important factors in helping us achieve victory.”
He added: “I extend my sincere thanks to the fans who filled the stands, and to everyone who contributed to providing us with this support. We did not perform at our best in the first half, especially with the wasting of a number of easy opportunities, but the fans continued to support us throughout the match.”
He continued: “We made some technical adjustments between the two halves, which helped us improve our performance in the second half of the match, and I believe that the enthusiasm of the fans gave the players a great boost, and was an influential factor in turning the tide of the match in our favor and deciding the victory.”
Regarding the role of the bench in the victory, he said: “What was achieved was the result of great teamwork, and all the players gave their utmost for the team, which was reflected on the field through harmony and understanding among the group’s members, which always helps us achieve positive results.”
