MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax-AVN) – The patrol ship Neustrashimy, which belongs to Russia’s Baltic Fleet, is escorting nine ships traveling off the Horn of Africa’s coast, an area where Somali pirates are active, Russian Navy spokesman Captain Igor Dygalo told Interfax-AVN on Friday.
“The Neustrashimy is escorting nine ships, including one Russian vessel,” Dygalo said.
Russian naval ships will continue to operate in the region to ensure safe navigation, he said.
The vessels being escorted by the Neustrashimy include the Russian ship Chelyabinsk, the vessel Fesco Of, which is traveling under the Marshall Island’s flag, the ship Stolt Confidence under the Cayman Island’s flag and the following ships under the Liberian flag; the Stolt Viking, the Stolt Army, the Konolus, the Sea Emperor, the Alexa May and the Ocean Trader.
