A woman accused of robbing her husband at gunpoint is now on trial in the Lower Court. Elvira Mulholland, who spent more than six months on remand for attempted murder and robbery charges, is being tried summarily for the lesser offence of robbery. Prosecutor Maria Nembhard-Santana represents the Director of Public Prosecutions, while attorneys Lynden Jones and Leeroy Banner defend Mulholland. The Crown alleges Mulholland robbed her estranged husband, Jeffery Mulholland, of nine thousand dollars in cash and an iPhone valued at four thousand dollars during an incident in October 2024, at Mile Twelve on the Coastal Highway. Three witnesses have testified so far. On Wednesday morning, Mulholland’s son took the stand and confirmed key details leading up to the incident, including that both his mother and stepfather left the house in separate pickup trucks heading toward La Democracia. He said his mother drove off so fast her truck skidded and reversed into a flowerpot. A Social Security Board inspector later told the court he came upon a violent roadside scene that afternoon. He testified that he saw a bleeding man kneeling beside vehicles in a drain and a woman holding a gun. The witness said he watched the woman point the weapon, fire a shot, and take an item from the man before driving off toward Hope Creek. He later assisted the injured man and took him to the Hattieville Police Station. Defense attorneys challenged the inspector’s account during cross-examination, questioning his ability to see clearly from a distance and inconsistencies about the object taken. The witness insisted he saw a gun and had a clear view of the incident. The trial continues on August third, 2026, when another police witness is expected to testify. The complainant, Jeffery Mulholland, is currently out of the country and is expected to return to give evidence.
