Popular Renewal declared itself in party reorganization at the national level after the completion of the Regional and Municipal Elections (ERM) 2026. The decision was adopted by the National Executive Committee of the party.
The political organization announced this measure through an official statement released this Friday through its social networks.
“The National Executive Committee of the Popular Renewal political party (…) having concluded the electoral process of the ERM 2026, has decided to declare the party structure at the national level in reorganization,” the statement indicated.
As part of this measure, the national leadership annulled all party credentials issued at the regional, provincial and district levels.
In dialogue with El Comercio, Deputy Norma Yarrow, national general secretary of Popular Renewal, specified that the decision only affects the regional, provincial and district coordinators, and not the members of the CEN.
“We do not have secretariats, but rather regional, district and provincial coordinators, the bases of the organization, who had a credential and have worked on the campaign. After these, we are going to enter into a general restructuring,” he said.
The parliamentarian explained that these coordinators were in charge of organizing Rafael López Aliaga’s visits, primary elections and party affiliations, among other activities. In that sense, he indicated that the annulment of the credentials will allow the continuity of those who exercised those functions to be evaluated.
“We are nullifying the credentials to see if some are ratified or changed,” he said.
Yarrow indicated that the members of the leadership will meet in the coming days to define the next steps of the reorganization, although he specified that there is still no date set for that meeting.
“The first thing is to leave the credentials void so that they do not present themselves in the name of the party or take the name or recommend people,” he explained.
The national general secretary maintained that the decision also responds to the need to evaluate the performance of the political organization in the different regions of the country.
According to him, Renovación Popular did not obtain the expected results in several jurisdictions, which, in his opinion, shows the need to review the work of its coordinators.
“We must be aware that at the national level we have not had good results in many regions, so there has not been thorough work,” he said. As an example, he mentioned Arequipa, where, as he noted, the party only achieved one congressman.
“What we want is for the party to grow and reorganize itself so that it is a party with bases and militants who do party work and not rise during the elections,” he added.
Yarrow also referred to the support that López Aliaga obtained in the first round of the general elections, in which the light blue candidate did not obtain the expected vote in the regions and his main support was concentrated in Lima.

Along these lines, he stated that the work of the coordinators must be evaluated based on the results obtained in both the Regional and Municipal Elections and the 2026 General Elections.
He also noted that the party will not establish alliances again in the future.
He added that, although Renovación Popular had a better performance in Lima, it will also be necessary to evaluate the districts in which the results did not meet the organization’s expectations, such as Ate and San Juan de Lurigancho.
As is known, the Popular Renewal list, headed by López Aliaga (as first councilor), disputes the Mayor of Lima with Francis Allison, Avanza País candidate.
