Rangoon’s Golden Era Revived in Former Miss’s Photos

In commemoration of Yangon’s historic landmark, Bogyoke Aung San Market (Scott Market)’s 100th anniversary (1926-2026), a former Miss and actress, Nann Khin Zaya, documented a photo series called Golden Century, reviving the old Yangon (formerly Rangoon) of 1950-1960.
With the pistachio green arch of Bogyoke Aung San Market, the actress shot her photos in a luxurious Myanmar woman look of the old Yangon with full costume and accessories such as a golden comb, golden earrings, a golden necklace, golden bangles and golden buttons.
Beautifully combining the past and the present, the photograph series expressed images of old shop owners in their 70s, fabric shops, food vendors, old gravel passages and people’s cheerful smiles. — TWA/ZS
