Princess Eugenie, niece of King Charles III and daughter of the former Prince Andrew, is waiting for her third childBuckingham Palace announced this Monday. The news was shared on social media with a photo of the two oldest boys, August and Ernest, the result of marriage to Jack Brooksbankholding an image of an ultrasound.
“Her Royal Highness, Princess Eugenie, and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child, whose birth is scheduled for this summer,” reads the statement, which also says that the brothers are “thrilled” to add a third member to the troupe.
And the short note ends: “His majesty the king has been informed and is delighted with the news.”
Eugenie married Brooksbank at Windsor Castle in 2018, and, three years later, in February 2021, August was born. Ernest celebrates his third birthday in June. The family lives between Ivy Cottage, on the Kensington Palace estate, and Melides, in Portugal — Brooksbank is linked to sales in the CostaTerra Golf & Ocean Club development.
The 36-year-old princess, who is 12th in the line of succession to the British throne, is the youngest daughter of Andrew Mounbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson. Eugenie has remained silent and has not yet publicly commented on her father’s problems with the law — former Prince Andrew, who gave up his titles real last October, is being investigated for “suspicion of misconduct in the exercise of public functions”, for allegedly forwarding confidential state information to his friend Jeffrey Epstein.
In March, after it became known that the princess’s name was mentioned in Epstein’s files, Eugenie left the position of patron of the Anti-Slavery International foundation, which she had held since 2019, without any justification. Both she and her sister Beatrice were also “disinvited” from the family box at the Royal Ascot races, which take place next month.
However, it is unlikely that both will lose the title of princesses, especially because, as this Monday’s statement confirms, Eugenie and Beatrice remain close to their uncle, Carlos III.
