A preschool-age child died after being struck by a bus at a pedestrian crossing in Turku on Wednesday, according to the Southwestern Finland Police Department.
The young child died at the scene, in the Varissuo neighbourhood.
The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Littoistentie and Karvataskunkatu on a pedestrian crossing shortly after 8pm on Wednesday.
Police have opened an investigation into the incident. The bus driver is suspected of endangering traffic safety and aggravated manslaughter.
