A port officer from Loubiere has been granted $40,000 bail after appearing in court in connection with cannabis possession
charges.
Alistair Bert Riviere-Alfred of Madrelle, Loubiere, was arrested at the Woodbridge Bay Port on August 18 following a police investigation into suspected cannabis.
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force said the investigation resulted in two possession charges, after separate quantities of cannabis were allegedly discovered.
One quantity was reportedly found inside a barrel at the port, while another was recovered from Riviere-Alfred’s residence. The drugs are said to have a combined estimated street value of nearly $50,000.
Riviere-Alfred appeared before the court on Friday, August 21, when the allegations were formally read to him.
He was subsequently released on $40,000 bail as the matter proceeds through the judicial system. The charges remain allegations and have not been proven in court.
