Journalist and politician Yekaterina Dunsova intends to organize a “protest at home” for free internet in Russia announced.
Dunsova wrote on her Telegram channel that the authorities have recently banned almost any form of street protest, so she wants to express her protest without taking people to the streets.
“All week at 8 o’clock open the windows and make noise for free internet – whistle, bang pots, turn on music, in any safe way and within the permitted noise level,” the politician wrote.
Dunsova said that such protests are not officially banned, but “we all understand how flexible the law is interpreted today.”
In this regard, he sent an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Head of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokolsev and Prosecutor General Alexander Gusan. He called on all interested parties to address such a question to the authorities.
Ekaterina Dunsova is a journalist and a former deputy of the Rzhiv City Duma. In 2024, he planned to participate in the presidential election of Russia, but the Central Election Commission refused to register him. After that, he tried to form his own political party “Tong”, but the Ministry of Justice of Russia refused to register it.
In May 2024 (two months after the presidential election), the Russian government declared Dunsova a “foreign agent”.
