Finnish police have seized close to 300 kilograms of narcotics in an investigation into a network with links to organised crime groups from Sweden, authorities said on Wednesday.
The National Bureau of Investigation said the case involves several import and distribution operations uncovered across the Helsinki region since late 2025. Investigators suspect a single international organisation directed the activity from outside Finland.
Police said drugs were stored in rented flats and distributed through local operatives.
In one case, the group sent two teenagers from Sweden to manage and distribute narcotics.
The first seizure took place on 30 December 2025 in Lauttasaari, Helsinki. Officers recovered close to 50 kilograms of drugs, including 19 kilograms of amphetamine and 27 kilograms of hashish.
Investigators said an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old had been deployed to Finland by the network. Police suspect both acted under orders from senior figures based abroad.
Seven people were remanded in custody in connection with the case, including two in absentia. The case has moved to prosecution and has been heard at the Helsinki District Court.
A second phase of the investigation focused on an apartment in Puustellinmäki, Espoo, uncovered in January 2026. Police said drugs stored there were distributed to south-east Finland and eastern Uusimaa.
Authorities in south-east Finland seized three kilograms of amphetamine on 26 January. Investigators linked the batch to the Espoo flat. Another three-kilogram consignment was handed to a distributor in eastern Uusimaa, with further links to Turku under investigation by police in south-west Finland.
A search of the Espoo property on 29 January led to the seizure of 29 kilograms of amphetamine and 600 grams of cocaine. Two Finnish nationals were arrested at the scene. Police suspect they acted on instructions from organisers abroad.
Three people were remanded in custody in connection with this part of the case, including one in absentia. The investigation moved to prosecutorial review on 20 April.
The largest single seizure came in February 2026 in Munkkivuori, Helsinki. Police recovered about 200 kilograms of narcotics from a flat and a nearby vehicle.
The haul included 165 kilograms of amphetamine, 25 kilograms of cannabis, and 450 grams of cocaine. Investigators said a Finnish male born in 2007 handled storage and distribution at the site.
The case linked to the Munkkivuori seizure moved to prosecution on 4 May.
In total, police have identified 14 suspects across the investigation, with 10 held in custody. Most of those involved are young adults, according to authorities.
