Despite the start of the local elections campaign on November 28, some party formations are still awaiting the issuance of the final approval of their candidate lists, after completing the procedures for compensating rejected files and adjudicating appeals, at a time when other parties received the green light to enter the electoral competition with all their lists.
According to what “Al-Shorouk” learned from party officials, most of the political formations participating in this entitlement received final responses regarding their candidate lists, after completing the compensation processes and re-examining the files in question, while other formations are still waiting for a decision on a limited number of lists, so that they can confirm their participation and launch the electoral campaign in an official capacity.
In this context, the leader of the National Liberation Front Party, Faisal Ghams, revealed in a statement to “Al-Shorouk” that the party received final approval for all the lists that it submitted in anticipation of the local elections, stressing that all the lists were accepted without any list being dropped, which allowed “Al-Aflan” to decide its electoral participation file at the level of the municipalities in which it entered the competition, after completing the procedures related to studying the candidates’ files.
For his part, the leader of the National Construction Movement, Al-Saeed Nafisi, confirmed that the movement had received all the responses regarding the lists that it submitted to participate in the local elections, including those that were subject to compensation procedures for the candidates whose files were rejected. He indicated in a statement to “Al-Shorouk” that only two lists were dropped, while the rest of the lists completed the procedures related to acceptance and approval, allowing the movement – according to him – to begin its electoral campaign through the relevant constituencies.
On the other hand, other political formations are still waiting to complete the procedures for approving some of their lists, such as the Movement for Society of Peace, which has not yet received the final response regarding two electoral lists for two municipalities, as it is waiting for their status to be decided and the final results to be confirmed, allowing it to begin the electoral campaign regarding them if the lists are accepted.
This situation comes in the context of the political parties completing their latest electoral arrangements, especially with regard to settling the status of candidates whose files were rejected and compensating them according to the established procedures, in addition to following up on the appeals filed before the competent judicial authorities, given that the final decisions regarding these files determine the lists that can officially compete in the electoral competition.
While party formations have entered the stage of field activity and presented their electoral programs to citizens, others are still following the fate of some of their lists, awaiting the completion of the legal and administrative procedures that precede confirming their final participation, especially since the upcoming November 28 localities.
This comes at a time when the electoral campaign entered its official phase on Thursday, as the candidates whose lists’ status had been decided began to intensify their propaganda activity, by announcing the acceptance of their candidacy and publishing their photos on their pages on social networking sites, accompanied by messages calling on citizens to vote for them.
On the other hand, party leaders, in turn, began their field electoral activity, by organizing regional meetings and gatherings across several states, to present the directions of their formations and electoral programs, and to urge citizens to participate in the upcoming election and go to the ballot boxes to choose their representatives in the municipal and state popular councils.
