Packs of dogs, broken playgrounds, unlit streets – does Karpoš have a mayor?

Karpošani react to several problems that they face every day, and which, as they say, the municipal management does nothing to solve.

Karposhans have many remarks about the work of the new municipal management, which, according to them, has done almost nothing in five months to solve the problems they face every day. On social networks, there are reactions about the bad street lighting by pointing out specific streets where there is no lighting, about mowed and uncollected grass, about the unsanitary conditions throughout the municipality, but also about the packs of dogs that make residents afraid to go out on the street at night.

People are also dissatisfied with the workers who are supposed to keep the streets clean, claiming that they are doing a poor job.

Except on the main streets, you have not put a broom anywhere. Where are the communal inspectors to go through the neighborhood and hear the problems of the citizens? If we don’t report a problem, you don’t see it. Just say thank you employees. And about the dogs, both the street ones and the neighbors’, which pierced our ears from barking, let’s not have a conversation. It’s as if it doesn’t exist. Do we have a mayor? – asks Karposhanka on social networks.

Citizens also complain about unresolved infrastructural problems and demand that the parking problem be solved as soon as possible. They ask to what extent the introduction of zonal parking at the Ministry of Economy, near Mlechen, in Leptokaria and in other settlements where there is hardly a free parking space every day. As they say, the ramps were just removed, which eased the problem of the lack of parking spaces for the residents.

Six months have passed, in six months the only thing we got in Karposh is the transfer of responsibilities from the Municipality of the City and two demolished ramps to show order and order where people from peace got chaos due to the previously passed DUPs of their time, no solution for parking “who gets where”, nor did we see a plan for solutions, people left to the elements – says a resident of Karposh.

There are also remarks about the destroyed urban equipment and children’s playgrounds.

Do you ever plan to fix the children’s playgrounds in Karposh 3? At the fountain, garlands praise from the steps, the slide is completely raked, the swings are forged with boards from parents. Behind “Reptile” on “Pelisterska” misery, garbage everywhere, wooden boards, unsafe for children. At the adrenaline park, it is a shame to say that it is a playground, the torn surface, unsafe slides. Dog excrement in “Lazo Trpovski”. You may be waiting for spring, but we walk the children 365 days a year – responds a Karposhanka in the group “Municipality of Karposh – report a problem”.

The implementation of the budget in the first three months of the year shows that very little has been done. In the Quarterly Report on the implementation of the Budget for 2026, it is stated that of the total planned revenues in the amount of 2,159,676,279 denars, 400,639,022 denars were realized in the first quarter.

The municipality is engaged in renting equipment and a stage, and carpenters are still waiting for the promised projects

At the session, at which the Quarterly Report was voted on without problems by the majority of councilors, the councilor from Left, Slavko Mitevski, made remarks.

He pointed out that the implementation of the budget is about 16 percent, which is a catastrophic realization, and then he pointed to several individual items that are in the interest of the citizens.
For example, as he said, the realization of the planned funds for the maintenance of urban equipment is below 1 percent, although there are broken benches and children’s playgrounds all over the municipality. For public lighting, more than 16 million denars have been provided in the Budget, but only about 200 thousand have been realized.

We can’t have uncut grass, and even now it’s mowed, as if horses grazed it. It does not surprise me that a large number of citizens ask if the Municipality is functioning at all, because very few things have been done in these three months. The citizens who react have the right, are you functioning or not, what is happening? Things are not working as they should and the Municipality must be more active. People call me and tell me we don’t have light, and I call the services to be told – we don’t have a tender, and the programs and the budget were adopted on time. Why wait four months to release tenders? Mayor, this is serious, it’s about practical things that the citizens feel – Mitevski said at the last session of the Council, addressing the mayor Sotir Lukrovski.

Meeting of the Council of the Municipality of Karposh/ Photo: Municipality of Karposh

According to Lukrovski, it is a fact that certain procedures may be a little late, but for what is of interest to the citizens, the procedures were already partially completed or were in progress.

But not that some have not been started and after their completion, certain remarks will be acted upon. As for mowing the grass, this is the most critical period, there is rain, then sun. I know that with the facilities we have, they are handled regionally and blockwise, people are in the field every day. Regarding the street lighting, I think that despite the fact that we did not have a tender in the past period, we are still finding a solution, at least for what reaches me as certain positions, it will be corrected – answered Lukrovski.

Dissatisfied with the mayor’s explanation or to “defend” him, the council president, Hristo Sarakinov from VMRO-DPMNE, also addressed the councillors.

The tenders for the urban equipment are already in process, so the children’s playgrounds and benches will be restored very soon, but even if we restore them today, they will be broken again tomorrow – said Sarakinov, and he did not forget to tell Mitovski not to pretend to be an expert on how to cut grass.

However, regardless of the views of the councilors, which should be taken into account that they may also be politically “colored”, Mayor Lukrovski and the Municipality of Karposh must show more listening to the remarks and demands of the citizens. Because the needs of the citizens should always be a priority for the work of the local government.
