Saint Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has been hospitalized after experiencing mild discomfort, nausea, and a headache, with doctors later confirming that he is awake, alert, and in stable condition.
The St. Kitts & Nevis Observer reported that Drew was admitted to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital on the evening of Sunday, August 30, where he underwent observation, diagnostic reviews and a comprehensive clinical evaluation.
According to the article, the Prime Minister remained under the care of doctors and specialists for approximately 18 hours. While his condition was described as stable, his medical team recommended that he be transported overseas for specialized observation and precautionary monitoring.
The publication said that the Cabinet Secretariat said arrangements were being made for the transfer and assured the public that government operations would continue without interruption. A further update on Drew’s condition is expected Monday evening.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission, Dr. Didacus Jules, expressed concern over the Prime Minister’s hospitalization.
In a written statement, Jules extended his heartfelt wishes to Drew, his family and the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis, saying the OECS Commission’s thoughts and prayers were with him.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him at this time. We pray for God’s healing hand upon him and for wisdom and strength for the medical team caring for him. May Prime Minister Drew enjoy a swift and full recovery and return soon to good health and service,” stated the OECS DG.
