Residents of Gallion, Soufrière and Scotts Head are being encouraged to attend a series of community meetings aimed at providing updates on recent volcanic activity and improving public awareness of volcanic hazards.
The meetings are being organized by the Office of Disaster Management (ODM) in collaboration with the UWI Seismic Research Centre.
According to the organizers, the sessions will give residents an opportunity to discuss recent activity affecting their communities, raise concerns and receive information directly from scientists and officials responsible for monitoring volcanic activity and disaster preparedness.
The first meeting will be held in Gallion on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Block Meeting venue.
A second meeting, serving the communities of Soufrière and Scotts Head, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Lama Building, beginning at 6:00 PM.
Organizers are encouraging residents to attend and play an active role in the discussions, emphasizing that community participation is key to building safer and more resilient communities.
The meetings will also provide an opportunity for members of the public to hear the latest information from experts and official agencies while learning more about volcano preparedness and safety measures.
