Events Manager of Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl Kareem Guiste has announced that a dedicated wellness space will be introduced as an important new feature of the fifth edition of the event this year.
He made the announcement during the official launch ceremony of the event this week.
The wellness space is expected to provide locals and visitors alike with an opportunity to focus on health, relaxation, and overall well-being while experiencing the cultural offerings of Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl.
“So this year, we are very deliberate in creating more spaces for them within the Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl area,” Guiste noted. “We are also introducing something new to Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl 2026: a dedicated wellness space.”
He explained that this is an important addition, “because when we talk about the Dominican way of life, wellness is a critical part of this story. It forms part of our tourism campaigns.”
Guiste pointed out that Dominica is, in fact, the nature island.
“We have a long tradition of using our natural environment, our local foods, herbs, plants, traditional knowledge, as part of how we care for ourselves,” he stated. “The Wellness Space, therefore, will give us an opportunity to bring another dimension to Ti Vilaj.”
Guiste added, “You will pause from the music, you will pause from the food, and you will enrich yourself with care. Expect wellness products and other services. Expect the opportunities to engage with practitioners and businesses operating within the health and wellness space. Expect the promotion of local teas, herbs, natural products, and healthier lifestyle choices. And of course, expect opportunities for people to slow down, engage, and discover some of what Dominica has to offer from a wellness perspective.”
Meanwhile, he mentioned another important area, ‘the expanded Kids Zone’.
“This year, we want to make Ti Vilaj event more welcoming for families. The Kids Zone will be expanded to create a stronger, more engaging experience for our younger visitors,” he said during the official launching ceremony of Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl this week. “ We want parents to be able to come with their children and know that there is a dedicated space where children can participate, learn, play, and enjoy themselves in a very safe space.”
He continued, “ Expect more activities, expect more games, interactive experiences, and opportunities for learning and creativity.”
According to Guiste, those experiences will help to connect children to the Dominican culture, “Because the kids zone should not simply be somewhere to keep children occupied. It should be another part of the Ti Vilaj experience, a place where children can discover something, create something, learn something, and live with their own memories of the Creole season.”
He believes that in order for Dominica’s tradition to continue, children must be part of this experience.
Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl is scheduled for October 19 to 22, 2026, at the Botanic Gardens.
