Mount Pleasant are already showing impressive early-season form, delivering a commanding performance yesterday at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago to secure a 3-1 victory over Suriname’s SV Robinhood and book their place in the 2026 Caribbean Football Union Club Shield Final.
Goals from Trayvone Reid, Jahshaun Anglin, and Demario Phillips propelled the Jamaicans past their Surinamese opponents in a semifinal encounter.
The match opened with both sides exercising patience, but it was Mount Pleasant who created the first meaningful chance in the 12th minute when Haitian Rafa Intervil fired wide of the target, signalling the Jamaican side’s growing influence on proceedings.
As the first half progressed, Mount Pleasant gradually seized control of the midfield, with Intervil causing problems down the right flank and Johnson Juedy offering a constant threat on the left.
Their sustained pressure finally paid dividends in the 32nd minute when Daniel Green was brought down inside the penalty area.
Reid stepped up to the spot and calmly converted, placing his effort low to the left of goalkeeper Jonathan Fonkel to give Mount Pleasant a 1-0 advantage.
The Surinamese outfit responded positively to falling behind, increasing their tempo and earning a succession of corner kicks in search of an equaliser.
Their best opportunity came in the 40th minute when Ravello Zijler escaped his marker, only to be denied by a brilliant near-post save from Mount Pleasant shot-stopper Shaquan Davis, who kept the scoreline 1-0 heading into the half.
Mount Pleasant emerged from the interval with renewed purpose and the second goal arrived when Anglin timed his run to perfection before meeting Reid’s cross with a clinical first-time finish in the 57th minute, extending Mount Pleasant’s advantage to 2-0.
Desperate to find a way back into the contest, Robinhood head coach Roberto Gödeken introduced three substitutions in the 63rd minute.
Any hopes of a Robinhood comeback were effectively extinguished in the 82nd minute when Phillips spotted Fonkel off his line and squeezed his effort inside the near post to make it 3-0.
Robinhood managed a consolation goal in the 90th minute when Naiem Helstone finished from close range at the back post after a cross from Jenairo Ligeon.
Mount Pleasant comfortably saw out the remaining minutes before referee Vimarest Diaz brought the match to a close, confirming a 3-1 victory that sends the Jamaican champions into Sunday’s 2026 CFU Club Shield Final.
