French club Olympique Marseille announced the extension of the contract of its young player, Yannis Salami, until 2029, in a move that highlights the club’s management’s keenness to retain its academy graduate and its desire to hone his talent for the coming years.
The 19-year-old midfielder signed his first professional contract with the club in 2024 after rising through the ranks. Salami is currently active with the second team of Olympique in the French fifth division, where he participated in 3 matches during the current season.
At the international level, Salami leads the Algerian national team for under 20 years and has 4 international appearances with the “Desert Warriors” jersey, after changing his sporting nationality and preferring to represent Algeria, following previous participations with the French youth teams (under 16, 17 and 18 years).
Salami is currently competing with “Al-Khader” in the North African tournament in Egypt, which qualifies for the 2027 African Cup of Nations in Ghana, under the supervision of coach Hussein Al-Arfi.
After ensuring his future with the southern club until 2029, Salami seeks to continue his development and reserve his place with the first team of Marseille, hoping to gain the confidence of the national voter Ibrahim Hamdani in the future, and to follow in the path of his compatriots Amine Goueiri and Hammad Abdali.
