The Trinidad and Tobago Guardian has reported that the Slinger Francisco known the world over as the Mighty Sparrow has died at the age of 91.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Trinidad and Tobago’s Calypso icon, Slinger Francisco, known to the world as ‘The Mighty Sparrow’,” read a statement released by the family of the entertainment icon earlier today.
The family also shared that Sparrow was overtaken by a brief illness and died peacefully in New York surrounded by his loved ones.
