
The elected president Keiko Fujimori met this Wednesday, July 8, with the provincial mayors Javier Ponce (Puno) and Óscar Cáceres (Juliaca) in their office, located in the San Isidro district.
At a press conference, both mayors announced that they asked the elected president to form a commission to investigate the deaths that occurred in Juliaca during the social protests of January 2023.
Ponce also asked Fujimori Higuchi to give him “a look” to the south of the country, given that previous governments did not meet their demands, in addition to developing large-scale projects for their region.
“The first thing that has been requested of the president – and the supporters of the Fuerza Popular bench – is to form a commission of investigation so that the deaths in the government of former president Dina Boluarte and Premier Otárola do not go unpunished, on air. That is the first point”he expressed.

“It has been requested that I take a look at the south of Peru, given that these last governments have not been attended to. We are talking about the entire south of Peru, mainly in Puno, where we do not have major projects. A document has been left with a list of requests that will surely be attended to”he added.
The mayor of Fist He stressed that the problems of his region are diverse and that it has been requested that the Government agencies reach the entire population, mainly the borders and all the districts.

For its part, Oscar Caceres He stressed that Puno needs water and drainage 24 hours a day and develop the Puerto Seco-San Román project, in order to turn the region into a tourist hub.
“We have expressed the desire to be able to continue with the comprehensive water and sewage project in the city of Juliaca, which is developed with total transparency and honesty. What we want is for Juliaca to once and for all have water and drainage 24 hours a day”he stressed.
“Likewise, the project that we have been developing for Puerto Seco-San Román has been proposed as a logistics hub that can articulate the cargo that comes from Brazil and Bolivia to exploit the benefits of the Puno region”he added.
Regarding the position of former presidential candidate Roberto Sánchez, of Together for Peru, on the election of Keiko Fujimori, Cáceres said that he respects his opinion and that the electoral bodies have already recognized the victory of the leader of Popular Force.
“We respect personal opinions. However, I believe that the National Election Jury and the ONPE have already spoken, and the election of Mrs. Keiko Fujimori is very clear. From here on, what we must see is the future”he noted.
“There should be no conditions of any kind. In particular, I think that we must work for Peru in a unified, concerted and dialogue manner”he sentenced.
