In a press release sent to Bakhtar Agency, it is stated: “The large cement production plant in Shurandam area of Kandahar has started the production process with the activation of its first phase. This large industrial project will play an important role in strengthening the country’s domestic production, reducing cement imports, meeting internal needs and creating job opportunities.”
According to the source information; About 113 million US dollars have been invested in this project and it will be built in three phases and after the completion of all phases, the daily production capacity of cement will reach about 5000 thousand tons. The daily production capacity of the first phase is 1500 tons.
About 500 people are currently working in different parts of the project and it is expected that thousands of citizens will be provided with employment after the full operation of the factory.
The operation of the big cement factory in Kandahar is considered an important step towards the country’s industrialization, self-reliance and economic growth; The step which is of significant importance for the economic development of Afghanistan through the increase of domestic production, meeting the internal needs and investment of the private sector.
