SAN MARINO – The Executive Committee of the Institute for Social Security (ISS) is evaluating the administrative and organizational aspects linked to the possible early return to service of the doctor Giovanni Landolfocurrently on leave, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of the General Surgery Unit of the State Hospital.
The professional had requested a three-year leave of absence, granted by the previous ISS Management for a duration of two years, starting from June 2025. Approximately a year and a half after the start of the period of absence, Landolfo expressed his desire to return to service early.
In the meantime, to ensure the continuity of the structure, the responsibility of the General Surgery Unit has been entrusted to Dr Nicola Cauteroalready responsible for UOSD Day Surgery and with consolidated experience in the surgical field, also gained in the transplant sector. Cautero currently holds the position of acting director of the facility.
The management of the absence involved organizational choices and the attribution of professional responsibilities which must now be considered in the evaluation of the possible return.
The ISS Management welcomed Landolfo’s willingness to resume the service early, recognizing its professional value. The ongoing investigations, specifies the Institute, do not concern the return itself, but the ways in which to achieve it, taking into account the positions of the professionals involved and the current organizational structure.
The objective of the Executive Committee is to identify a clear and sustainable solution, capable of protecting the various professional responsibilities and guaranteeing stability to the department, continuity of care and regularity of the services offered to citizens.
