According to IRNA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the positions contained in the joint statement of the US Secretary of State and the Foreign Ministers of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council – dated June 25, 2026 – to be interventionist, irresponsible and provocative, and warns against the continuation of belligerent and interventionist behaviors in the region.
The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing disgust at the repetition of the big lie fabricated by the genocidal Zionist regime and the United States regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, advises the member governments of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, instead of aligning with the United States in threatening Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, to join with the Islamic Republic of Iran to realize the initiative of a nuclear-weapon-free West Asia region and to force the American regime to stop obstructing the implementation of this initiative.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, recalling the direct responsibility of the US-Zionist regime as well as those countries in the region that participated in the US-Zionist military aggression against Iran in imposing insecurity on the Strait of Hormuz, notes that the Strait of Hormuz is located within the territorial waters of the two coastal states, namely Iran and Oman, and what has been agreed upon in paragraph 5 of the memorandum of understanding on the termination of the imposed war will be the basis of action regarding the management of shipping in this strait.
