Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has spoken about “the latest developments” with Basem Naeem, a member of Hamas’s ruling politburo, Iranian state media reports.
The US-Iran declaration of intent to continue peace talks does not mention Gaza or Hamas. The ceasefire agreed there is said to cover “all fronts, including Lebanon.”
Hamas has expressed hope that the agreement will lead to an end to violence in war-torn Gaza as well.
In the conversation with Hamas leader Naeem, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi is reported to have underlined Iran’s support for the Palestinians “until their legitimate national rights are fully realized.”
