In 2025, there was no murder case recorded in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. On April 29, 2026, General Prosecutor Anna Vardapetyan announced this in the RA National Assembly and informed that during 2025, 2,248 cases were recorded in the military units of the Armed Forces and other troops of the Republic of Armenia (2,093 cases in 2024). Of the recorded cases, 1,027 or 45.7% were accidents (762 in 2024), 1,221 or 54.3% were crimes (1,331 in 2024), including 687 or 56.3% military (715 in 2024), 534 or 43.7% – other crimes (616 in 2024).
RA Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, in accordance with the “Regulations of the National Assembly” constitutional law, today presented to the RA National Assembly’s Standing Committee on State-Legal Affairs the report on the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia in 2025, which was sent to the RA National Assembly on March 31, 2026 and published on the official website of the Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2025, the following cases of death of servicemen in the RA Armed Forces were recorded: 6 conscript soldiers, 2 conscripts of the border guard troops of the National Security Service and 1 militiaman. total: 9 service-related deaths, compared to 27 in 2024.
The service-connected deaths are as follows:
- 4 cases of negligent suicide,
- 1 case of military official negligence,
- 1 case of causing death of a person as a result of non-fulfilment or improper fulfillment of professional duties by a medical worker,
- 1 case of lightning,
- 2 cases of the disease.
During 2025, service-related deaths of servicemen decreased by 18 or 66.7% (27 in 2024).
During 2025, the amount of damage caused to the state by criminal proceedings was 411,728,063 drams (in 2024: 1,479,117,389 drams), of which 108,712,388 drams (in 2024: 51,935,493 drams) were recovered in pre-trial proceedings.
According to Anna Vardapetyan, 280 studies carried out by the State Interests Protection Department of the Central Military Prosecutor’s Office and military prosecutor’s offices of the garrisons in 2025 recorded 1 billion 432 million 493 thousand drams of damage to the state (5 billion 677 million 550 thousand drams in 2024). “In 2025, 938 million 80 thousand drams of damage caused to the state were recovered, of which 924 million 294 thousand drams were recovered by the State Interests Protection Department in an extrajudicial procedure,” the Prosecutor General of RA stated and added that 92 million 213 thousand drams were recovered in 2025 from the damages recorded as a result of studies carried out in 2024.
During 2025, military prosecutors initiated 24 lawsuits in the field of protection of state interests (19 lawsuits in 2024). The total demand for confiscation with 24 lawsuits is 4 billion 564 million 117 thousand drams. 5 of the claims have been fully satisfied, the examination of 19 has not yet been completed. The amount of the total amount subject to confiscation with 5 fully satisfied property claims is 11 million 466 thousand drams.
