Cesc Fàbregas delivered memorable statements after Como 1907 qualified for the first time in Uefa Champions League to the detriment of those from AC Milan and Juventus.
The formation prepared by the former Barcelona and Arsenal midfielder beat US Cremonese 4-1, and the results from the other matches they made the Como team finish the season in a historic place – 4th place, ahead of AC Milan and Juventus.

At the end of the game in Cremona, Fàbregas revealed that he felt even before the final stages that his team could achieve the impossible.
“All my life, even when I make changes, I’ve relied on instinct. And I had the feeling before the Parma game that if we win two games, we’ll be in the Champions League.
We showed the players a video of a cyclist who was in sixth place but started to pedal harder in the final sprint and won the race. That’s exactly what we did this season.”
The Spanish coach also spoke about the strength of the group he leads, an extremely young one.
“It’s up there with the biggest achievements of my career for the way we’ve done it. This squad is full of kids, we’ve got 15 players under the age of 23, so it’s a masterpiece by the whole team.
They listened, always wanted more and raised the bar at just the right time. I can only take my hat off to these players.”
Fàbregas also recalled the difficult beginnings at Como, when the club was still in Serie B.
“I always say that here I had to make a lot of decisions, because I was basically given the keys to the whole football side and there was almost nothing when I started.
I was talking to two physiotherapists today who were here four years ago when I came as a player. I had no training base, I was doing massages on the tables behind a bar! And now we are in the Champions League.”
The 39-year-old technician explained that the Como experience shaped him enormously as a coach.
“I grew a lot in this experience. It was like going to college football every day because I had to make so many decisions. The day I leave here, I’m just going to be a coach.”
Despite the interest from some clubs important players in Europe, Fàbregas has made it clear that he is in no rush to leave.
“I’m very happy here. It’s true that timing is important, but I’m very happy with what we’re doing here.
Life is long. I just turned 39 a few weeks ago. As Mourinho said, I still have 40 years to work until I’m 80. You don’t have to rush, you have to be patient and keep learning.
In any case, Como is already at the next level, because it is in the Champions League,” concluded Fàbregas.
