SAN MARINO – A 44-year-old man, originally from Brescia, was hit on the evening of October 10, around 9.30 pm, in via XXI Settembre, in the Fiorentino area. The driver of the car, a black Audi, drove away without stopping. The pedestrian, transported to the State Hospital, suffered injuries judged to be healable in five days.
The images from the cameras allowed the Civil Police to reconstruct the route of the vehicle, which left the San Marino territory through the Chiesanuova border. The acquisition of the license plate and the testimonies collected by the officers allowed investigations to begin to identify the driver.
On the morning of 11 October, a patrol from the Emergency Sector tracked down the Audi, which had returned to San Marino to attend the special stage of the Piandavello Rally, scheduled for the same day.
The driver was a young man born in 2004, resident in Belluno, who was accompanied to the Murata command to be interviewed and for police compliance. The 22-year-old was reported for not maintaining the position of the vehicles after the accident, not stopping to wait for the police and failure to provide assistance. His driving license was also revoked and a fine was issued for his driving behaviour.
Dangerous maneuvers at the Fiorentino roundabout
In the same situation, a patrol from the Fire Prevention Section, which intervened to provide assistance, stopped another car, a modified BMW, whose driver was carrying out acrobatic maneuvers at the Fiorentino roundabout.
The young man, born in 2006 and resident in Novafeltria, was sanctioned for the contested administrative violations. The vehicle’s registration certificate has been withdrawn and the car will undergo an extraordinary inspection.
