In response to the invitation made by Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, during the work of the Parliamentary Economic Forum in Marrakesh, the final recommendations of the Parliamentary Assembly for the Mediterranean included solidarity with the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, as a result of the Iranian attacks on it, and reference to the repercussions of closing the Strait of Hormuz.
This recommendation came in line with what the Speaker of the House of Representatives put forward in his speech during the opening high-level session, where he called on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean to issue a clear position condemning Iranian attacks on the security of international navigation, and rejecting attempts to blackmail the world by threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that whoever threatens Hormuz today may threaten other straits and sea lanes tomorrow.
The forum’s statement of recommendations included an affirmation of deep solidarity with all Gulf member states of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly – as stated in the speech of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain – which were subjected to attacks from Iran, and a reference to the potential long-term geo-economic repercussions of closing the Strait of Hormuz.
This response is an embodiment of the active role of parliamentary diplomacy of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its contribution to creating international parliamentary positions, within multilateral cooperation, which contributes to confronting common challenges and achieving international peace and security.
In the same context, the delegation of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain concluded today (Saturday) its participation in the work of the fourth session of the Parliamentary Economic Forum of the Mediterranean Parliament for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions, which was held in the city of Marrakesh in the Kingdom of Morocco, on June 19 and 20, 2026, with the participation of the heads of parliaments of member states and a number of parliamentary delegations, experts and decision-makers.

Participation in the Parliamentary Economic Forum also confirms the constant keenness of the legislative authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain to be an active part in international efforts aimed at enhancing parliamentary cooperation, highlighting the national experience in the field of economic reform, and creative and innovative initiatives in confronting challenges in order to achieve sustainable development achievements.
