The anniversary is celebrated this year with big music names, activities and a special concert where, among others, Mariina Schmidt, Kimmernaq Kjeldsen, Enok Poulsen and Siiva Fleischer take to the stage.
Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen will be filled with Greenlandic music, culture and activities for two days. The program offers, among other things, concerts, drum dancing, mask dancing, choirs and exhibitions.
At the anniversary concert on Plænen on Sunday 2 August, Greenland will perform in the Tivoli Orchestra together with a number of well-known Greenlandic singers: Mariina Schmidt, Kimmernaq Kjeldsen, Miké Thomsen, Knud Mathiassen, Frederik Elsner, Siiva Fleischer and Enok Poulsen.
Coffee and fireworks
Guests can also experience Kaffemik, Greenlandic stalls, children’s activities and various cultural events.
The history of Greenland in Tivoli goes back to 1976, when a group of Greenlandic students in Denmark met in Tivoli to create a community and celebrate their culture.
Since then, the event has developed into an annual celebration of Greenlandic culture with music, art and activities for both children and adults.
The anniversary celebrations culminate on Sunday evening with a big anniversary concert, while Saturday evening offers a special fireworks show.
