Monaco’s international character will take centre stage on Friday, May 8, as a special German-language mass is set to be held at the Monaco Cathedral, offering a rare cultural and spiritual gathering for the Principality’s German-speaking community.
Organised by the German International Club of Monaco, the initiative was launched with the support of a newly arrived member and reflects the club’s broader mission to strengthen cultural ties and promote the German language locally.
The ceremony will be accompanied by live music from a German string quartet, adding a distinctive atmosphere to the service, which will take place in one of Monaco’s most iconic settings on the Rock.
Open to residents from Monaco and neighbouring regions, the mass is also expected to welcome students and families connected to the Principality’s German-language education programmes, bringing together a wide cross-section of the community.
The service will be led by Kurt Benedikt Susak, a Swiss clergyman known for his engaging preaching and theological background. Ordained in 2008 and later becoming one of Switzerland’s youngest deacons, he will travel from Davos to preside over the event.
Supported by the Diocese of Monaco, the initiative highlights the Principality’s ongoing efforts to embrace its diverse international population, while offering a moment of connection through language, music and tradition.
The mass is scheduled for Friday, May 8 at 16:30.
