The National Electric System (SEN) operates under a critical gap of approximately 3,615 megawatts between the country’s maximum demand and the available base generation capacity, a situation that perpetuates operational restrictions and rationing schemes in different regions of the national territory.
According to technical estimates from the sector, National demand is around 16,030 megawattswhile the available generation barely reaches 12,415 megawatts. This functional imbalance forces us to maintain a regime of continuous cuts that directly affect commercial activity, the operation of the health sector and the daily lives of citizens.
Faced with this scenario, radiologist doctor and political leader Enrique Ferreira warned that the collapse of the service does not respond to temporary or fortuitous factors, but rather to the accumulated result of years of disinvestment, deterioration of transmission infrastructure, technological obsolescence and loss of specialized talent in the energy area.
Electrical situation in Venezuela

“Behind every electrical interruption there is a patient whose medical treatment is compromised, a commercial establishment that interrupts its production and an entire community subject to uncertainty. The normalization of blackouts as an operational routine cannot be accepted as an admissible condition,” he said.
Specialists and sectoral reports agree that The stabilization of the electrical system does not allow immediate solutions or promises of a propaganda nature.. Its recovery demands medium and long-term planning that contemplates the modernization of distribution networks, the strengthening of thermal and hydroelectric generation capacity and the establishment of regulatory frameworks that encourage investment and distributed generation.
Ferreira emphasized that the rescue of the SEN must constitute a sustained public and State policy, prioritizing technical transparency and placing the needs of citizens at the center of management to definitively overcome the national energy deficit.
