
National Board of Justice (JNJ) announced this Sunday that it will request the initiation of disciplinary investigations and the review of the ratification process of the head of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Piero Alessandro Corvetto Salinas, in the context of the complaints about the development of the general elections 2026.

Through a statement, the entity stated: “In that sense, The presidency of the JNJ will request from the Plenary Session the initiation of disciplinary investigations and even the review of the ratification process of Mr. Corvetto Salinas as head of the National Office of Electoral Processes. “Competences and abilities must be appreciated in professional practice.”.
Likewise, the JNJ urged the organizations that make up the electoral system – such as the National Election Jury, ONPE and the National Civil Identification Registry—to fulfill their functions in accordance with the Constitution and the laws, in order to guarantee the legality, transparency and legitimacy of the process.
The institution also specified that Corvetto Salinas was appointed and ratified in the position by a previous Plenary Session of the JNJ, within the framework of its constitutional powers.

Finally, he reaffirmed his respect for the constitutional order and the principles of electoral transparency, and indicated that he will remain vigilant regarding respect for democratic institutions and the popular will.
