The Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) will travel to Trinidad from August 12–18 for its annual destination sales mission, as it continues efforts to raise awareness of Dominica and encourage more visitors from one of its key regional markets.
The week-long initiative will connect Dominican tourism representatives with Trinidadian consumers, travel agents, tour operators, media professionals and members of the Dominican diaspora, according to a DDA press release. The programme includes mall activations, media interviews, business-to-business meetings and a destination networking event.
Dominican tourism stakeholders will join the DDA, along with Contour Airlines, which is scheduled to begin direct flights between Trinidad and Dominica on October 5, 2026. Officials note that the new air link comes at an important time, with the mission also promoting the World Creole Music Festival, set for October 23–25, 2026, and Dominica’s Carnival, scheduled for February 8–9, 2027.
The campaign will also showcase Dominica’s year-round attractions, including nature and adventure, wellness, culture, cuisine and accommodation options.
The release shared that consumer activities are scheduled for West Mall on August 13, East Gates Mall on August 14 and C3 Centre on August 15. Visitors will be able to meet destination representatives, learn more about tourism experiences and accommodations, and get information about air connections and upcoming events. Interactive activities will also be part of the promotions.
The DDA says it will further use radio, television, and print media engagements to reach audiences across Trinidad and provide information to help potential travelers plan visits to Dominica.
On August 17, the programme will shift toward the travel industry, with Dominican tourism partners presenting their properties and services to Trinidad-based travel agents. The presentations will be followed by one-on-one meetings aimed at building partnerships and generating business for travel to Dominica.
A destination cocktail reception will then bring together Dominican tourism stakeholders, Contour Airlines, travel agents, tour operators, media representatives and other industry partners.
The DDA explained that it undertakes the Trinidad sales mission annually to maintain its presence in the market, connect with potential visitors and strengthen relationships with tourism professionals.
This year’s mission will also mark the Authority’s first engagement with Contour Airlines in the Trinidad market, providing an opportunity to promote the airline’s upcoming direct service.
The initiative is ultimately aimed at positioning Dominica as an accessible and attractive Caribbean destination for Trinidadian travelers while strengthening tourism relationships between the two markets.
