The Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA) is set to officially launch its Women’s Basketball League with a special night of 3×3 basketball at the Massacre Indoor Sports Complex.
“Ladies Night” is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 7:00 PM, bringing female basketball players and teams together for an evening of competition, entertainment and celebration.
A DABA press release indicated that the event will mark a new phase in DABA’s efforts to expand opportunities for women and girls in basketball across Dominica and will formally signal the start of its renewed national women’s basketball programme.
DABA said its wider development programme is placing greater emphasis on providing female athletes with structured opportunities to train, compete and advance in the sport.
The Association also sees the Women’s League as a potential pathway for young players to progress from grassroots and school basketball into clubs and national competitions, with national-team representation as the eventual goal.
The 3×3 format will headline the November 7 opening, providing a fast-paced showcase of the speed, skill, teamwork and competitiveness of Dominica’s female basketball players.
But DABA is looking to make the occasion about more than the games.
Basketball fans, families, young athletes, former players and members of the wider public are being encouraged to attend and support the women taking part. The evening will feature basketball, music and entertainment as part of the launch.
DABA is also hoping the initiative will encourage greater participation by women and girls in other areas of basketball, including coaching, refereeing and administration.
Businesses and community partners are being invited to support the Women’s League as it develops, helping to provide the resources and opportunities needed to build a sustainable female basketball programme.
