Without blaming this time external factors such as animals, sabotage from the opposition or other countries, the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec) attributed the heavy rains that fell in the west of the country as the reason why the state of Zulia remained without electricity service for at least 8 hours this Thursday.
Through a statement on social networks, the Ministry of Electric Energy assured that technical personnel assigned to this office are working to restore electrical service to the eight Zulia municipalities affected by a blackout that began at 3:30 in the morning on April 16 and that until after noon was still affecting several locations.
“At the moment, our technical teams continue to carry out the necessary maneuvers to progressively recover the service,” said the statement, which did not add more information.

Last Sunday, the National Council of Commerce and Services (Consecomercio) urged the Government of Venezuela to specify the energy saving plan, established last March to contribute to the stability of the electrical system, after prolonged electricity failures were reported in several states of the country.
In a statement, Consecomercio requested that the days and hours of electricity rationing be published, which will allow the commercial sector and providers of service measures “to plan and take the necessary measures to continue guaranteeing the goods and services demanded by the population.”
Delcy Rodríguez recently spoke about a solar phenomenon in Venezuela, which will cause increases in temperature, and appealed to citizen awareness to advance an energy saving plan of which no further details were offered.
In March, representatives of the Venezuelan Chamber of Shopping Centers reported that they agreed to join a plan to save electricity, after a meeting with government officials.
Venezuela constantly faces failures in the supply of electrical energy, especially in states far from Caracas, for which the Government repeatedly blames the opposition, despite the fact that the military guards the sector’s facilities.
