The Chinese company Shanghai Xingshu Tiansuan Space Technology announced on Saturday the launch of the first group of satellites as part of its space computing project, which aims to launch a thousand satellites for the same purpose.
This step, according to what international media reported about the company, represents the practical start towards the commercial operation of the first satellite computing network in China. Which strengthens the country’s position in the artificial intelligence race.
Space computing technology relies on data processing, implementing artificial intelligence tasks, and analyzing sensor data directly within satellite orbit around the Earth.
This is instead of sending huge amounts of raw data to ground stations. This innovative method contributes to significantly reducing response time, as well as alleviating pressure on terrestrial communication networks.
This launch coincided with the holding of the World Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai. Which also witnessed the establishment of the World Organization for Artificial Intelligence, with the participation of Algeria As a founding member.
