The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is advising motorists of temporary traffic changes that will be introduced on Saturday, September 26, 2026, to accommodate the Opening of the Independence Walk Through Parade 2026.
The parade is scheduled to take place at the Botanic Gardens from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
As part of the arrangements, CDPF said motorists will not be allowed to travel through Valley Road from its intersection with Elmshall Road to Bath Road.
Through traffic will also be prohibited in the Botanic Gardens, although local access will remain available to people working at offices within the Gardens.
Drivers travelling to and from Bath Estate, Elmshall and the Valley are being advised to use the Link Road from the Bath Estate Bridge to the New East Bridge.
The CDPF also said no parking will be permitted at the following locations:
- Either side of Valley Road from its intersection with Bath Road to the Bath Estate Bridge;
- The main Botanic Gardens Road from the East Gate to the South Western Gate on Bath Road;
- The Link Road from the New Link Bridge to the Bath Estate Bridge; and
- Bath Road between the intersection of Independence Street and Bath Road and the Morne Bruce Junction/Public Cemetery.
The police said appropriate traffic signs will be placed in the affected areas and are asking motorists to follow the signs and comply with directions from officers assigned to traffic duties.
The CDPF thanked the public for its cooperation and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the temporary arrangements.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly and share the notice with other road users.
