Carlos Humberto “the little fish” Ruiz, all-time top scorer of the Guatemalan National Team and one of the most representative soccer players of the country at an international level.l, became a trend again on social networks.
This time, not because of a goal or a sports controversy, but because of his participation in a viral challenge organized by Diario Olé USA-MEX, a specialized media with coverage in MLS, Liga MX, Concacaf and international football heading to the 2026 World Cup.
The challenge, simple but provocative, was to react when hearing the name of different footballers. The dynamic indicated that he should only respond if he considered that the mentioned player was better than him.
It didn’t take long for Ruiz’s reactions to go viral, generating debate, comments and all kinds of opinions among fans.
Silence before many figures, words only for three legends
Throughout the challenge, the historic Guatemalan scorer heard names of players who marked an era in the fworld and regional soccer. Among them were the Spanish David Villa, the Swede Zlatan Ibrahimović, the French Thierry Henry, the Mexican Carlos Vela, the English David Beckham and Wayne Rooney, the American Landon Donovan, the Irish Robbie Keane, the Venezuelan Josef Martínez and the Argentine Tadeo Allende.
In all these cases, Ruiz opted for silence, remaining firm in his position and without granting sporting superiority. However, the scene changed when three names appeared that, for the “Pescado”, are above any comparison.
The only exceptions: Messi, Cristiano and Maradona
When listening to Lionel Messi, Ruiz did not hesitate to respond and defined it as “A phenomenon.”
