Regional health stakeholders, including specialists, civil society groups, healthcare workers, and individuals living with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), joined a regional dialogue focused on improving how Caribbean communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters while addressing the needs of people with NCDs.
The two-hour discussion examined the growing effects of climate-related emergencies on healthcare systems and vulnerable groups, while participants shared experiences from past disaster responses.
The session also highlighted practical strategies, resources, and recommendations to help strengthen more resilient, patient-focused approaches to NCD prevention, treatment, and managing NCDs before, during, and after disasters, and ongoing care throughout the Caribbean.
