Good atmosphere and high spirits characterize the party movement in Inatsisartut in the hours leading up to election day.
Tuesday morning warms up a large number of politicians with breakfast on the party corridor in Inatsisartut before they want to move towards the polling station in Nuuk at Godthåbhallen.
Sermitsiaq’s dispatchers report from the party hall about the good atmosphere and high spirits on election day, where many of the parliamentary candidates have chosen to start their day.
They have a long election day ahead of them, and then they will probably have to follow the vote count at their respective parties’ election parties.
At Siumut, chairman Aleqa Hammond gives a short speech to the party’s candidates:
– You have used a lot of energy in the election campaign. An important day has come. You must meet the voters and welcome them, because there are still many who have doubts about who they should vote for, says Aleqa Hammond.
At Naleraq, parliamentary candidate Qarsoq Høegh-Dam says that he will also be found at Godthåbhallen – probably all day, because every single vote counts and is important.
Qarsoq Høegh-Dam gives an example with the recent election for Inatsisartut, where there was a tie between the two Naleraq politicians Gerth Mikaelsen and Juno Berthelsen, who each got 95 votes.
A little before 09, the politicians move off towards Godthåbhallen, and several motorists push and wave at the politicians.
There is a cool wind, so the politicians must be dressed well to withstand the cold when they have to try to convince the last voters during the day.
