President of the Dominica Business Forum Inc., Daryl Bobb, says the organization is encouraged by the strong participation in its latest online forum, held via the Zoom platform on Saturday, 8 August 2026, which brought together members of the business community to discuss the Government’s proposed 2026/2027 national budget.
Bobb said the discussion (which was approximately two and a half to three hours) was productive, with participants raising several important concerns and identifying potential areas for action as the country moves forward.
According to the DBF President, one of the key issues emerging from the discussion was the need for greater public education about matters
affecting Dominica’s economy and development.
He explained that this should go beyond traditional academic education and focus on helping citizens understand what is happening on the
ground, including the roles of Government and the private sector and how the two can work more effectively together. He said the Business
Forum plans to organize further activities aimed at ensuring that national decisions are based on accurate information rather than emotion.
Bobb welcomed the participation of businesses from various sectors and said there is growing interest in having the Business Forum continue creating spaces for dialogue involving business leaders, political representatives, and other stakeholders.
He expressed hope that the views and information shared during the discussions will reach policymakers and said the organization could eventually prepare a document for submission to the Government with recommendations aimed at creating a stronger economic environment.
Bobb also thanked those who participated, including listeners who did not contribute publicly, and encouraged continued involvement in future national discussions.
