The concept is simple. The participants line up in teams and must answer a series of questions correctly – and the best team then wins a bottle of spirit to be drunk at Daddy’s.
The festivities are led by a quizmaster – and this Thursday it is Inuk Stender Jensen who has both come up with the questions, decides who has won and finally presents the first prize and gift cards to second and third place.
First it is warmed up
It all starts at 8 p.m., but most participants have arrived earlier and warmed up a bit with a draft beer or two. You participate in teams with up to 8 participants.
While answering the questions that are handed out in writing, the room falls silent, but as soon as the answers are handed in, the mood rises again until the next round.
It’s the week leading up to National Day, so the theme is quite simply Greenland. First there are four rounds with 10 questions in each, which the participants have fifteen minutes to complete. The questions were, among other things, about Greenlandic politics, culture and nature – and then it ends with a round of music, where the quiz participants have to guess the name of the song, who is playing and when the song came out.
An hour and 40 questions and five pieces of music later, Inuk Stender Jensen sits down at a table and adds up the points before he can choose the evening’s winners.
The winners on Thursday night were the team No Pizza Here, driven pub quiz contestants and used to knowing.
– In fact, we won the annual championship in 2024, says Milo Gudmundur.
– It is from that time that we have the team shirt. The team name comes from our discord server, where we play Counterstrike, among other things.
– We participate every Thursday. We are typically a minimum of 10 people every Thursday, where we divide equally into teams of 5-6 people, as there is a participant limit of 8 people per group. team.

– There should be no doubt that we participate primarily to win and thus get a bottle of spirits to use the same evening or save it for the weekend – we can only drink it in Daddy’s and must not take it out of the house, explains Milo Gudmundur.
In recent years, Pubquiz has been winning all over the world. As the name suggests, the sport originated in England, where it was already popular when Barnaby was young.
In one of the first Barnaby episodes, the participants get so involved in the pub quiz that it ends in violent and inventive murders.
It has not yet come to that extent in Nuuk. Here, it’s the fun that counts.
– We also participate for the sake of challenge and fun, as we have quite a few rivals that we actively try to win over. The right to ridicule is also an important motivational factor, says Milo Gudmundur.
