2026 /MONTSAME/. As
part of the Governor’s action program of Arkhangai aimag, the “Braille Window”
project is being carried out this year in cooperation with the Mongolian
National Federation of the Blind. It aims to improve public understanding of
the rights of people with disabilities and to raise awareness in society.
A
14-day training course to teach Braille to visually impaired citizens has
started and is now at the intermediate stage. This
training is designed for people with visual impairments who do not know Braille
and cannot read or write it. It aims to teach them how to read and write in
Braille, help them gain these skills, and support their active participation in
society.
In
addition, 20 teachers from schools and kindergartens are taking part in the
training. They are learning about the history of Braille, the six-dot system,
numbers and symbols, and basic math operations. The lessons are being taught by
instructors Amarzaya Ch. and Erkhes T. from the Mongolian National Federation
of the Blind. After the training, these teachers will become trainers and share
their knowledge with visually impaired citizens.
In Arkhangai aimag,
there are more than 3,300 people with disabilities, including over 450 people
with visual impairments.
