The Belize Defence Force (BDF) took part in Fuerzas Comando 2026, held from August 24th to 28th in Asunción, Paraguay, alongside elite Special Operations teams from 17 nations across the Western Hemisphere.
Representing Belize, the Special Operations Task Unit faced a series of physical, tactical, and technical events designed to test endurance, precision, teamwork, coordination, and decision-making under pressure. The team completed the competition in 14th place overall among the 17 participating nations.
The BDF says the competition offered a valuable opportunity to learn, exchange knowledge, and strengthen interoperability with partner forces from across the region, alongside the physical and tactical demands of the event itself.
At the closing ceremony, General Manuel Rodríguez Sosa, Commander of the Paraguayan Army and President of the Conference of American Armies, joined commanders from participating nations, including Brigadier General Anthony Velasquez, Commander of the Belize Defence Force, to mark the conclusion of the exercise.
