The case of two dogs apprehended in the Bogotá El Dorado International Airport Due to alleged abandonment, it moved to a new stage. The file and the evidence collected are being sent to the corresponding Peace and Coexistence Inspection, which must assume the process and evaluate the evidence related to the possession of the animals.
While their situation is being defined, the two canines remain under the care of the District Institute for Animal Protection and Welfare (IDPYBA). According to the entity, they are currently in quarantine and are in good health.
The decision about who will be able to permanently keep the dogs will not be made by the Institute. That determination will be in the hands of the inspector who knows the case, once he reviews the documentation and evidence that is part of the file.
The case arose from an alleged abandonment of the animals at the El Dorado airport. However, during the process, people appeared who claim to be responsible and who have provided a version of what happened.

According to the information known to the IDPYBA, these people indicated that they had been deceived by the company in charge of carrying out the international transport of the dogs. The Institute indicated that it has held meetings with both lawyers and those who claim to be responsible for the canines.
Communications are also maintained with these people to allow them to view the animals while the quarantine period continues. These contacts, the entity explained, must be carried out following the guidelines and protocols established to guarantee security during that stage.
The file that will reach the Peace and Coexistence Inspection contains the evidence gathered around the case. It will be there where the certification of ownership of the dogs and the other evidence provided during the verification stage will be examined.
This analysis will be decisive in establishing what will happen to the animals once the corresponding actions are completed. The IDPYBA specified that its competence, while the process progresses, consists of guaranteeing their protection and well-being.
The entity also clarified that it is not its responsibility to establish whether the evidence presented by those who claim the dogs is true or sufficient. This assessment will fall exclusively on the authority in charge of resolving the case.
For now, the two animals will continue under institutional protection, in quarantine and with monitoring of their health status, while the Inspection receives the file and determines, based on the evidence, who certifies their ownership and what their final custody will be.
