One of Australia’s most dangerous fugitives, Anthony Pele, has sparked an international manhunt across the Pacific after publishing a series of social media posts claiming he is visiting locations such as Mexico, Albania, Vietnam, and Samoa.
The 25-year-old alleged gang leader was officially placed at the top of the New South Wales (NSW) Police Force “Most Wanted”.
He has outstanding warrants for murder, conspiracy to murder, drug supply, and public place shootings.
Australian detectives allege that Pele was the principal gunman in a July 2023 ambush in Greenacre, Sydney. In a case of mistaken identity, Pele allegedly shot and killed an innocent bystander, Ahmed Al-Azzam, after mistaking him for a rival Comanchero bikie gang member.
He fled Australia immediately after the 2023 murder. His posts since late 2025 have claimed locations such as Mexico, Albania and Vietnam, as well as Samoa.
Following the murder of Coconut Cartel leader, Lorenzo Lemalu by two Samoan youth in Vietnam, Anthony Pele is set to become the new leader.

The “Coconut Cartel” is an organised crime group primarily composed of individuals from Samoan and Tongan backgrounds who grew up in Sydney’s western suburbs
Samoa’s Acting Police Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga has addressed the growing public alarm.
Leiataua has said local authorities have not yet verified a physical entry into Samoa under his official name, but have committed to inform AFP if he is located.
Samoa Police say they are working closely with Australian Federation Police and will continue to maintain an active watch.

Australian State Crime Commands warn that despite the taunting posts, Pele’s digital footprints are proving “incredibly valuable” to international intelligence networks.
Law enforcement warns the public never to approach Pele, as he is considered highly armed and dangerous.
The public can provide anonymous tips via the NSW Police Most Wanted Persons page.
