The Aspirers Athletics Club has returned from the 35th Trupial Classic in Curaçao with a record-breaking performance, collecting 52 medals and five trophies in what the club is describing as a historic achievement for both the organization and Dominican athletics.
Competing against athletes from across the Caribbean and beyond, the Portsmouth-based club amassed an impressive 23 gold, 19 silver and 10 bronze medals over the course of the international meet, reinforcing its reputation as one of Dominica’s leading track and field programmes, according to information released by the club.
Several athletes delivered standout performances. Young star Omari Caesar produced one of the competition’s strongest displays, winning three individual gold medals and adding a bronze. Khaarim John-Baptiste also captured three individual gold medals and a bronze, continuing his impressive run of form after setting a personal best earlier in the meet.
Delaney George and Chris Toussaint each claimed three individual gold medals, while Chassidy Daniel added two gold medals to the club’s tally as Aspirers recorded strong performances across multiple age groups and events.

The success continued on the final day of competition when the club secured five trophies in the road race, capping off an outstanding showing at one of the Caribbean’s longest-running athletics meets.
The Trupial Classic annually attracts athletes from across the region, providing young competitors with valuable international experience while allowing them to test themselves against high-quality opposition.
Club officials also acknowledged the support that made the trip possible, thanking sponsors, families and supporters who helped the team travel to Curaçao.
“We say thank you to all our sponsors, especially Mr. Ernest Williams of Idol Fit Group, the Government of Dominica, Win Air, Intercontinental and our top gold sponsor as an individual, Ms. Dawn Williams. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Aspirers could not have achieved this without you.”
The medal haul marks a milestone for Aspirers Athletics Club, reflecting the dedication of its athletes, coaches and supporters, while demonstrating the value of continued investment in youth athletics.
